There are advantages and disadvantages to using any of these three kinds of bypass humidifiers. If you are on a tight budget and you don’t want an expensive humidifier, you should opt for the drum style. This is also cheaper to maintain. Unfortunately, you will be required to frequently clean and check on the pad in order to ensure the functionality and efficiency of your humidifier. Another disadvantage is that this kind of humidifier tends to encourage mold growth.

Similar to the drum style, the disc wheel style has its own set of benefits and drawbacks. It requires low maintenance cost as well. You don’t have to regularly replace parts. It is also efficient and it offers a longer life span. Unfortunately, this costs a bit more than a drum style humidifier.

The flow through style does not require extensive maintenance. You wouldn’t have to worry about mold growth as well. You don’t have to regularly changed filters and it does not consume energy or electricity. The drawback, however, is that it cots a lot more than the other kinds of bypass humidifiers.
